Laura received her Ph.D. from the Department of Geography, University of Sheffield, in 2008. Her thesis was entitled, "Ecohydrological Interactions Across a Semi-arid Grassland to Shrubland Transition." This research involved extensive monitoring and modeling to investigate interactions between ecological and geomorphological processes over a gradient of land degradation. Following this research, she spent several months at the Natural Resource Ecology lab at Colorado State University, working on incorporating runoff and erosion processes into the DAYCENT biogeochemical model. At ASU she is working with Dan Childers and the CAP LTER. She will be working broadly within the areas of ecohydrology and aquatic biogeochemistry, seeking to understand urban hydrology and nutrient cycling, using both empirical data collection and modeling.
