Jana Hutchins is a Tech Support Aanalyst, Coordinator under the ASU IT department and has managed the GIS Lab since 1995. As the University has evolved from a Research One insitution to "The New American University, the GIS Lab has emerged as "Geospatial Partnerships for Scientific Inquiry." IT staff and students have relocated from the Computing Commons to Tempe Center where they are working in partnership with the International Institute for Sustainability in support of multi-disciplinary research initatives that the Institute participates in and manages. Hutchins has a Masters degree in Environmental Planning from ASU and a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Denver. She has taught workshops and courses on GIS topics including watershed management and suitability analyses. She also served as President of the Arizona Geographic Information Council in 1999-2000.
