Dr. Fink is Foundation Professor in the School of Sustainability and School of Earth and Space Exploration, and Director of the Center for Sustainability Science Applications. He served as Director of ASU's Global Institute of Sustainability and its first University Sustainability Officer from 2007-2009. Dr. Fink served for a decade as the University's senior research officer (1997-2002 as Vice Provost for Research and 2002-2007 as Vice President for Research and Economic Affairs). He was also Chairman of the Geology Department (now part of the School of Earth and Space Exploration) from 2005-2007. Dr. Fink is a volcano specialist who studies eruptions on earth and other planets. His current research and policy interests include urban sustainability, conservation biology, and renewable energy. He is a fellow of the Geological Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Trustee of the Arizona Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, a member of the Board of Advisors of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History, and a member of the National Board of KB Homes.
