Marcia Nation received her Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Toronto in 1994. Her other degrees include a M.Phil. in Geography from the University of Birmingham, England and a B.A. in Geography and Urban Studies from Macalester College. After receiving her Ph.D., Marcia worked as an international development consultant and as a gender and development research manager for Aga Khan Foundation Canada, a non-governmental organization. She worked for seven years for the Voinovich Center for Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University in the areas of public sector training, evaluation and performance measurement with a variety of non-profit sector clients and public entities. Marcia has extensive teaching experience, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and was a co-founder of the gender and development learning community at Ohio University. Her research interests include: human-environmental interactions, participatory planning and gendered impacts of development.
