Dr. Crittenden is Director of the Sustainable Technologies Program at Arizona State University, Associate Editor of Environmental Science and Technology, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. His main research and teaching interests have been in sustainability, pollution prevention, physical-chemical treatment processes, transport of organics in saturated and unsaturated groundwater, modeling of fixed-bed reactors and adsorbers, sol-gel chemistry for preparation of zeolites and catalysts, surface chemistry and, mass transfer, numerical methods, and modeling of wastewater and water-treatment processes. Dr. Crittenden and his students have received fourteen national awards for their research. Dr. Crittenden teaches courses on sustainable engineering, water, and wastewater treatment.
