CAP LTER is engaged in a number of activities with other sites in the LTER Network, particularly with the other urban site in the network, the Baltimore Ecosystem Study.

These initiatives include:

• Avian community structure studies in Baltimore and Phoenix
• Agrarian Landscapes in Transition project with seven LTER sites
• Comparative research on environmental risk and justice in Baltimore and Phoenix
• Participation in the Lotic Intersite Nitrogen Experiment (LINX) study
• Compilation of data on human population and economy across the LTER Network, 1790-2000 as part of the Socioeconomic Catalog of the LTER Ecotrends Project
• Contribution of site data to the LTER Ecotrends Project
• Urban forestry research in Baltimore and Phoenix
• Participation in the Teaching Ecosystem Complexity through Field Science Inquiry project
• Leadership in the development of research on ecosystem services across the LTER Network
• Contribution to the development of the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON)
• Workshops on education, urbanization, environmental justice, ecosystem services at the September 2006 LTER All Scientists Meeting in Estes Park, Colorado
