Project Summary

Greenfield's service project for the Fall 2004 semester is a mural timeline of the Rio Salado divided up into seven sections and painted on 55-gal. drum trash cans. The mural begins with 200 million years ago and leaps forward to the first human occupation. Successive periods are spaced at fifty year intervals. Students were guided in their historical research by the ASU Interns and facilitators to create murals on paper. A composite time period mural was created and painted onto trash cans. This year’s lessons included pollination, why do leaves change color, food webs, bacteria, and ecological adaptations.
