Project Summary:
Our project was a suggestion box to provide a communication link between the public and the Rio Salado staff. The box is decorated with desert animals. All of these animals were researched throughout the semester. With this suggestion box, the public will be able to offer suggestions, comments, or concerns about the Rio Salado.
Highlights for the year:
Our theme throughout the semester was desert animals. The students decided they wanted to learn about different animals that inhabit the Sonoran Desert as well as the Rio Salado Park. We talked about what makes a desert unique, and we had a lesson about the different adaptations animals have to survive in the desert. The students learned about mammals, reptiles, and birds through lessons and guest speakers. We also had a lesson about the differences between native and non-native species.
