Title
Do new kinds of insects appear after soil modification?
Grade Level
Grades 9-12 Integrated Science 1,2
Protocol
Arthropods
Abstract
This lesson will attempt to illustrate the effect cultivation of
natural soils has on insect species. A series of small gardens devoted
to growing Native American sustinance crops is now in development
at SRPMIC. Comparison of insect species and quantity between the
original soil and the amended type will provide enough data to conclude
the opportunistic nature of insects. All data will be collected
before planting occurs.
